The waist has an elastic back with a very short drawstring in the front which doesn't really cinch it in much. I kept them because I sew and was able to take the hip width in, otherwise I probably would have sent them back. I like the fabric.These pants are from Costco, as evidenced by the unique appearance of the size tag. Too large. I ordered my usual size XL, but I would need a M in these, I think. Same as Costco.
